Visible Mending: Boro Patches with Sashiko Stitching

Visible Mending: Boro Patches with Sashiko Stitching In-Person

Japanese sashiko is an embroidery tecnique, boro pataching is the practical method of using fabric scraps and sashiko stitching on clothing to mend holes and make the garment stronger. Boro is a great way to bring worn out clothing back to life and it's a method that works on any kind of material. Participants should bring an item of clothing they want to repair- there is fabric available in the lab for making a patch but participants may want to bring their own scrap fabric for patches. All thread and other sashiko supplies are provided. Prior attendance of the Sashiko workshop or hand-sewing or other needlework skills prefered but not required.
