Risograph 101: Scan to Print

Risograph 101: Scan to Print In-Person

A Risograph Printer, also known as a digital screen printer, combines the screen printing process with the speed and effiency of a photocopy machine. Unlike a full color printer, a risograph prints colors one layer at a time and the ink is semi-transparent which allows the inks to overlap to create more colors. The risograph is a great way to make dyamic and eye-catching prints whether it's a flyer, an art print, a collage, or a zine.

For this workshop we'll be going through all the basic workflow of how to use the printer, how to load paper, how to switch out inks, and printing multiple copies. There are two ways to make a print with a risograph, either sending a file through the computer or using the scanner on the top of the printer and in this workshop we'll be focusing on just using the scanner. Participants will work together to make a collaborative collage using materials available in the lab to learn how the printer renders information and the layering of different colors. No experience necessary and all materials provided!
